Very Sad News

On June 2nd, Breeze woke up in a great mood. We were in bed and we played our morning game where I grab her and roll her around and she growls at me as if she is going to eat me. We shared kisses and big body hugs where I wrap my arms and legs around her and snuggle. We played for about 1/2 hour before I got up. She came downstairs and had a big breakfast, which she gobbled down. I went to read my email and Breeze came and sat beside me. She got up and i heard her stumble. Then she stumbled again. I ran over to her thinking maybe she had a leg cramp or something. She was panting so i laid down beside her to comfort her. She did not seem to be scared or in pain. Then she stretched and took a deep sigh and stopped breathing. I tried to do cpr and mouth to mouth (not easy with a mouth that big!) she opened her eyes one last time, looked at me, gave me one last breath and it was over. It happened so suddenly and quickly.
the vet said she probably had a sudden heart arrythmia.
it's very hard for me to write right now. i'm still so much in shock.
so it wasnt' the osteosarcoma that got her, it was her heart.

CAMPING

We went to Georgia and camped. We don't need no leashes down here!!! Breeze is having a blast. We are in Florida right now we're headed to the beach today, OH BOY!

YIPPEE!!!

Breeze went for her post chemotherapy check-up today, March 30, 2007. All her bloodwork and tests came back clear. The vet said, "She is remarkable!" He also said she "dragged his ass" down the hallway and almost tried to jump a 4' barrier. I guess she was in a hurry to leave. We don't have to go back to that place for 3 months! We plan to go on a camping trip soon.

Waiting for Friday

Breeze is doing well. She finished her chemo last Friday. She has a follow-up visit this Friday to make sure there is no metastisis. Cross your fingers for us!

My story

I am an Irish Wolfhound named Breeze. I was born October 15th, 2001.
I was recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma and had to have my leg amputated January 4, 2007.
I am doing great. I'm still going for chemotherapy but I just have two sessions left!
I am a very lucky dog as I have not gotten sick from the chemo at all! (knock on wood)
It's been a very strange time for me.
